I have missed going to the theater dearly…

This week, we experienced the 10-time Tony Award, Winning Best Musical, “The Band’s Visit,” at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa. It was such a joy to be reconnected with one of my favorite loves in life, and this remarkable show was just what I needed to uplift my spirit.

This sensational show and is a MUST-SEE theater friends!

Thank you Segerstrom Center for the Arts for inviting Queen Bee Latina to see “The Bands Visit.” All opinions are my own.

About

THE BAND’S VISIT tells a joyful, offbeat story of a band of musicians who arrive in a town way
off the beaten path. Under the spell of the desert sky, with beautiful music perfuming the air, the
band brings the town to life in unexpected ways. With a Tony- and Grammy-winning score that
seduces your soul and sweeps you off your feet, performed by thrillingly talented onstage
musicians, THE BAND’S VISIT rejoices in the way music makes us laugh, makes us cry, and
ultimately, brings us together.

This musical vignette moved me deeply and brought tears to my eyes…

Music unifies all cultures and can help with the realization that we all share similar stories of love, loss, and hardship.

The variation of Egyptian and Israeli music was brilliantly fused, and the musical score was unbelievable. The harmonizing in different languages gave me the chills, and my personal favorite was “Omar Sharif.”

The brilliant cast was memorable. Their musical performances were all very unique and different from one another.

Come From Away at Segerstrom Center for the Arts Now through February 17th 2019

The September 11, 2011 attacks shook the entire world to its core. I clearly remember watching the footage on the television, and feeling devastated and confused. The entire world stood still as the the chaos and tragedy unfolded. This week, my daughter Clarissa and I attended the premiere of “Come From Away” at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa . This show is the longest Broadway running show in Canada, and it is no surprise because this unique musical is sensational!

Disclosure: Thank you Segerstrom Center for the Arts for inviting us to see “Come From Away.” All opinions are my own.

ABOUT COME FROM AWAY

This incredible musical is based on a true story that took place Gander, a small town in Canada.  This story gives audiences a glimpse in the week following the September 11th attacks, and what transpired when 38 planes were ordered to land unexpectedly in this remote town.  The characters in the musical are based on (and in most cases share the names of) real Gander residents as well as some of the 7,000 stranded travelers they housed and fed. During “ Operation Yellow Ribbon, “cultures clashed and nerves ran high, but uneasiness turned into trust, music soared into the night, and gratitude grew into enduring friendships and surprising romances.

We laughed, we cried, and the music deeply moved us. This show was like a running carousel that had seamless song and scene transitions. There was no intermission. The story is told through storytelling catchy music.

The multitalented performers flawlessly changed voices, accents, and sang harmoniously in sync. We were blown away by their insane talent and versatility.

Don’t miss this breathtaking new musical written by Tony® nominees Irene Sankoff and David Hein, and helmed by this year’s Tony-winning Best Director, Christopher Ashley.

This astounding show is a MUST-SEE and runs through February 17th at Segerstrom Center for the Arts.

*Running time (approximate): 1 hour and 40 minutes with no intermission

Have you ever been lost in a song?

Carole King’s legendary music is now LIVE on stage at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa…

After opening night of Beautiful-The Carole King’s Musical at Segerstrom Center I’ve been listening to Carole King’s songs on my playlist. Her music and profound lyrics have a new meaning for me. Her unique love language is like no other and it strikes a deep chord for fans like me.

BEAUTIFUL–CAROLE-KING-MUSICAL

Carole King has written countless songs for artists including The Drifters, Little Eva, The Righteous Brothers, and for many more. Her incredible song writing took artists to the top charts. Her unique lyrics are still popular today, and I found myself singing along to her songs while watching the show.

About Beautiful

Long before she was Carole King, chart-topping music legend, she was Carol Klein, Brooklyn girl with passion and chutzpah. She fought her way into the record business as a teenager and, by the time she reached her twenties, had the husband of her dreams and a flourishing career writing hits for the biggest acts in rock ‘n’ roll. But it wasn’t until her personal life began to crack that she finally managed to find her true voice. Beautiful tells the inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way, she made more than beautiful music, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation. Beautiful features a stunning array of beloved songs written by Gerry Goffin/Carole King and Barry Mann/Cynthia Weil, including “I Feel The Earth Move,” “One Fine Day,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” “You’ve Got A Friend” and the title song.

The scenes transitioned flawlessly, and the performances brought me back in time.

I cried non-stop during “It’s Too Late Baby.” It was both a pivotal point of the show and a highlight in her career.
