Pretty Woman The Musical Now at Segerstrom Center for the Arts

Pretty Woman The Musical Now at Segerstrom Center for the Arts

Pretty woman walking down the street…

This song has been playing in my head non-stop ever since I saw,”Pretty Woman The Musical!”

We are all familiar with this tune, and it brings us back to this beloved film. This classic love story’s musical adaptation is showing at Segerstrom Center for the Arts now through July 17th.

Thank you Segerstrom Center for the Arts for partnering on this post. All opinions are my own.

In addition to attending the shows debut, we dressed up, wore red and attended a special cocktail hour hosted by Segerstrom Center for the Arts and Silver Trumpet.

There we sipped on a delicious, “Pretty Woman Spritzer” pre-show. It really set the tone to this spectacular night, and I feel grateful for this unique experience.

This sensational musical is full of romance, charm and comedy. The multicultural cast was engaging and the vocal talent was electrifying. The sights and sounds brought me to downtown Hollywood, where the streets come alive and where the vibe is like no other. This theater show is sexy, colorful, vivacious and spirited.

This show has strong adult content and is probably not suitable for children. It ideally would be for a date night or special girls night out.

Come From Away at Segerstrom Center for the Arts Now through February 17th 2019

The September 11, 2011 attacks shook the entire world to its core. I clearly remember watching the footage on the television, and feeling devastated and confused. The entire world stood still as the the chaos and tragedy unfolded. This week, my daughter Clarissa and I attended the premiere of “Come From Away” at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa . This show is the longest Broadway running show in Canada, and it is no surprise because this unique musical is sensational!

Disclosure: Thank you Segerstrom Center for the Arts for inviting us to see “Come From Away.” All opinions are my own.

ABOUT COME FROM AWAY

This incredible musical is based on a true story that took place Gander, a small town in Canada.  This story gives audiences a glimpse in the week following the September 11th attacks, and what transpired when 38 planes were ordered to land unexpectedly in this remote town.  The characters in the musical are based on (and in most cases share the names of) real Gander residents as well as some of the 7,000 stranded travelers they housed and fed. During “ Operation Yellow Ribbon, “cultures clashed and nerves ran high, but uneasiness turned into trust, music soared into the night, and gratitude grew into enduring friendships and surprising romances.

We laughed, we cried, and the music deeply moved us. This show was like a running carousel that had seamless song and scene transitions. There was no intermission. The story is told through storytelling catchy music.

The multitalented performers flawlessly changed voices, accents, and sang harmoniously in sync. We were blown away by their insane talent and versatility.

Don’t miss this breathtaking new musical written by Tony® nominees Irene Sankoff and David Hein, and helmed by this year’s Tony-winning Best Director, Christopher Ashley.

This astounding show is a MUST-SEE and runs through February 17th at Segerstrom Center for the Arts.

*Running time (approximate): 1 hour and 40 minutes with no intermission

American Ballet Theatre: Harlequinade at Segerstrom Center for the Arts January 17-20

Harlequinade-Segerstrom

The West Coast Premiere of Harlequinade begins Thursday, Jan 17 – 20 at Segerstrom Center for the Arts. My family cannot wait to experience the magic!

On January 17, 2019, Segerstrom will celebrate the show’s opening by featuring kid friendly activities, photo opps, craft and coloring stations. The children will also have an opportunity to meet the sensational dancers from the American Ballet Theater. The pre-show activities will begin promptly at 6pm.

When my girls were little, they attended ballet classes. ( I miss those days) My youngest son would press his face against the studio window, and gaze at the ballet dancers in awe. He would call them princesses, and tell me how much he loved watching them. I can’t wait for him to experience this lovely, kid friendly show!

Thank you Segerstrom Center for the Arts for inviting us to opening night of Harlequinade. All opinions are my own.

Harlequinade-Segerstrom

The Story
In the first act, the Harlequin and Columbine are kept apart by her father Cassandre, who would prefer that his daughter marry the wealthier (and older!) Lèandre. Not to be deterred, Harlequin tries futilely to win Cassandre over, only to be turned away again and again by Cassandre and his servant Pierrot. Finally, with the help of a Good Fairy and Pierrot’s sympathetic wife Pierrette, Harlequin’s bad fortunes are turned around, and Cassandre agrees to bless the union. Harlequin and Columbine are married in the festive second act, when love finally triumphs over all.

The Center’s International Dance Series is made possible by the Audrey Steele Burnand Endowed Fund for International Dance and The Segerstrom Foundation Endowment for Great Performances. Segerstrom Center for the Arts thanks its corporate partners including Kia Motors America, Official Automotive Partner; and United Airlines, Official Airline.

Review: Beautiful The Carole King Musical at Segerstrom Center for the Arts Oct 9-14

Grammy Award-winning and Tony hit musical BEAUTIFUL – THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL is currently at Segerstrom Center for the Arts, now through October 14th. This inspirational show is a MUST-SEE!

BEAUTIFUL–CAROLE-KING-MUSICAL

Have you ever been lost in a song?

Carole King’s legendary music is now LIVE on stage at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa…

After opening night of Beautiful-The Carole King’s Musical at Segerstrom Center I’ve been listening to Carole King’s songs on my playlist. Her music and profound lyrics have a new meaning for me. Her unique love language is like no other and it strikes a deep chord for fans like me.

BEAUTIFUL–CAROLE-KING-MUSICAL

Carole King has written countless songs for artists including The Drifters, Little Eva, The Righteous Brothers, and for many more. Her incredible song writing took artists to the top charts. Her unique lyrics are still popular today, and I found myself singing along to her songs while watching the show.

BEAUTIFUL–CAROLE-KING-MUSICAL

About Beautiful

Long before she was Carole King, chart-topping music legend, she was Carol Klein, Brooklyn girl with passion and chutzpah. She fought her way into the record business as a teenager and, by the time she reached her twenties, had the husband of her dreams and a flourishing career writing hits for the biggest acts in rock ‘n’ roll. But it wasn’t until her personal life began to crack that she finally managed to find her true voice. Beautiful tells the inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way, she made more than beautiful music, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation. Beautiful features a stunning array of beloved songs written by Gerry Goffin/Carole King and Barry Mann/Cynthia Weil, including “I Feel The Earth Move,” “One Fine Day,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” “You’ve Got A Friend” and the title song.

The scenes transitioned flawlessly, and the performances brought me back in time.

I cried non-stop during “It’s Too Late Baby.” It was both a pivotal point of the show and a highlight in her career.
