Goodbye Christopher Robin Hits Select Theaters October 13th

In a time of England’s post war, the country was filled sadness and loss.  Then a glimpse of hope came to light. The magical tales of Winnie-the-Pooh, hit book shelves all around the world.

I grew up reading the adventurous tales of Christopher Robins, and never knew the true story behind these beloved books. Recently, I screened the Goodbye Christopher Robins, and got a glimpse into the life of writer A. A. Milne and his son Christopher Robin.

Thank you Fox Searchlight for letting me screen this film. All opinions are my own.

This movie tells the tale of a happy boy, who through his creative play he inspires his father to write a book. But this sweet boy’s life takes a drastic turn, and takes him into a life of unwanted stardom.

Synopsis

Goodbye Christopher Robin gives moviegoers a rare glimpse into the relationship between beloved children’s author A. A. Milne (Domhnall Gleeson) and his son Christopher Robin (Will Tilston), whose toys inspired the magical world of Winnie-the-Pooh.  Along with his mother Daphne (Margot Robbie), and his nanny Olive (Kelly Macdonald), Christopher Robin and his family are swept up in the international success of the books; the enchanting tales bringing hope and comfort to England after the First World War.   But with the eyes of the world on Christopher Robin, what will the cost be to the family?

This story was both heartwarming and tragic at the same time. There were many tender moments between a father and son, that brought tears to my eyes.  It is emotionally layered and about the failures in parenting. This movie also gave me a glimpse of the author’s creative journey, that helped bring this captivating book to life.

This bitter sweet film was memorable, and I would definitely recommend it to moviegoers.

Go see Christopher Robins in select theaters October 13th!

Battle Of The Sexes Movie Hits Select Theaters this Weekend and Everywhere September 29th

In a time where women were told to stay at home to be wives, mothers, and homemakers a feminist revolution began. One that would change history forever. Tennis star Billie Jean King decided to take on Bobby Rigs in a tennis match to prove that women can achieve anything they set their mind to, and be equal to men.  “Battle Of The Sexes” hits select theaters today, and in celebration of this sensational film, I attended a movie inspired “Battle Of The Sexes” tennis clinic, the premiere, and press conference.

The tennis match between world number one Billie Jean King and ex-champ and serial hustler Bobby Riggs took place in 1973.  This film gave me a glimpse into the life and struggles of this superstar athlete, that used her stardom for a greater cause. A cause that is still fought by women today.

Thank you FOX Searchlight Pictures for inviting me to the Battle of The Sexes Premiere and Press conference. All opinions are my own.

battle-of-the-sexes

Synopsis

In 1973 tennis match between women’s world champion Billie Jean King (Emma Stone) and ex-men’s-champ and hustler Bobby Riggs (Steve Carell) was billed as the BATTLE OF THE SEXES and became one of the most watched televised sports events of all time. It reached 90 million viewers around the world.  As the rivalry between King and Riggs kicked into high gear, off-court each was fighting more personal and complex battles.  Bobby Riggs, one of the first self-made media-age celebrities, wrestled with his gambling demons, at the expense of his family and wife Priscilla (Elisabeth Shue).  Together, Billie and Bobby served up a cultural spectacle that resonated far beyond the tennis court, sparking discussions in bedrooms and boardrooms that continue to reverberate today.

Battle-of-the-sexes

I hit the tennis court for some training of my own, and met actress Elisabeth Shue who was cast as Pricilla, Bobby Riggs wife in the film.  I was little rusty at first, but I was happy to get a swing in for the movie.

battle-of- the-sexes

Elisabeth Shue (in high heels), dazzled us with her excellent tennis skills.

Battle-of-the-sexes

Check out actor Austin Stowell’s shenanigans on the tennis court. Austin stars Larry King, Billie Jean’s husband in the film. His sexy pose has a hilarious backstory, but you need to watch this film to find out what is is! Battle-of-the-sexes

This film is both educational and inspiring…

I will definitely take my girls to see this film. They need to know they can conquer anything that comes their way. They can be the voice for the voiceless and change they wish to see.

It was a true honor to meet Billie Jean King at the premiere. I told her that I loved her story, and I appreciated the fact that she paved the path for many of us and future generations.

After learning more about Billie Jean King at the press conference, I have the utmost admiration, respect, and appreciation for this heroic woman.

Emma Stone dove deep into her character, and brilliantly executed the role of Billie Jean King.

Precious (Maya Rudolph) said,”I think that’s really the beauty of getting to do projects that you can share with your family. My kids get excited. Although my youngest who’s four, we were watching the movie together, she kept looking at me and checking me out. Then she would look a the dog, then she would look at me.”  Her daughter said, “That’s you mom!”  Chuckles….

Emojis have forever changed the way we communicate and express ourselves. I often select emojis based on my mood or state of mind. The Emoji Movie hit theaters today, and we are feeling all kinds of emoticons about the new film. Sony’s computer- animated film will take moviegoers on a fun “app-venture!”

Earlier this week, we also hit The Emoji Movie premiere in Los Angeles California. We were elated to see the amount enthusiasm for the new film.

About The Emoji Movie

The Emoji Movie created by Sony Pictures, unlocks a secret world that lives inside your phone.  Gene (T.J. Miller),  is a exuberant emoji who was born without a filter and is bursting with multiple expressions. Gene is determined to become “normal” like the other emojis, in Textopolis, (city where emojis live, hoping to be selected by the phone’s user). In this world, each emoji has only one facial expression. Gene enlists the help of his handy best friend Hi-5 (James Corden) and the notorious code breaker emoji Jailbreak (Anna Faris). Together, they embark on an epic “app-venture” through the apps on the phone, each its own wild and fun world, to find the Code that will fix Gene. But when a greater danger threatens the phone, the fate of all emojis depends on these three unlikely friends who must save their world before it’s deleted forever.

tj-miller

TJ Miller looked dapper in his yellow emoji suit, and his lovely wife Kate was all smiles at the premiere. Tj stars as Gene, a multi-expressional emoji.

Gene is uncertain of his future, but his malfunction saves the day. My favorite part of the film is when Gene gets stuck in the Candy Crush game. It is just hilarious!

Emoji-Movie

Maya Rudolph looked adorable in this unique floral knit dress.

Maya plays the voice of Smiler, an evil emoticon who wears a big grin. She is deceptive and also controlling.

What’s your favorite emoji? I often send kisses to the favorite people in my life…

This movie is super cute and has a great message!

mario-lopez

Mario Lopez appeared to be a little “pooped out” at the celebration.

Thank you Bounty for sponsoring this post. All Opinions are my own.

My most treasured childhood memories include craft time with family and friends. Technology was very limited when I was growing up, and we relied on our imagination and creativity for fun. We often played outside until dusk, told stories, and made crafts. I want to create memorable moments like these with my son. He is a huge Despicable Me fan, so I decided to help him create a Minion puppet show!

Puppet shows are loads of fun, and inspire kids to use their imagination through storytelling. Here’s an easy DIY that you can make together at home and then use the new Bounty with Despicable Me 3 prints for clean up!

Despicable Me 3 Movie: Behind the Scenes with Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, and Pharrell

Are you excited about Despicable Me 3?

This new threequel hits theaters June 30th, and will not disappoint moviegoers!

Family is everything…  I am the youngest of six siblings and we are all different. We argue, we disagree, but we love each other. In this new film, there is a long lost relative joining Gru’s fam bam.  He’s rich, funny, and loving. He’s nothing like his villain brother, but he fits in and he is the missing piece to their family puzzle.

Thank you Universal Pictures for opportunity to interview the Despicable Me 3 cast. All opinions are my own.

This new movie is full of surprises and Minion shenanigans!

About the Movie

Illumination, who brought moviegoers Despicable Me and the biggest animated hits of 2013 and 2015, Despicable Me 2 and Minions, continues the story of Gru, Lucy, their adorable daughters Margo, Edith and Agnes -and the Minions in Despicable Me 3.

After he is fired from the Anti-Villain League for failing to take down the latest bad guy to threaten humanity, Gru finds himself in the midst of a major identity crisis. But when a mysterious stranger shows up to inform Gru that he has a long-lost brother- a brother who desperately wishes to follow in his twin’s despicable footsteps- one former super-villain will rediscover just how good it feels to be bad…

Despicable-Me

Here is the insider scoop and some excerpts from my interviews with Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, and Pharrell Williams.

Question:

“I loved the scene where you had to explain that maybe–or you almost explained that there weren’t unicorns. And I just wondered if you could talk about other times when you’ve had to manage the expectations for your kids, or producers or anybody.”

Mr. Steve Carell:

“Yes, I think it’s something that every parent has to navigate. And one of the dilemmas, I think–and Father’s Day is coming up, so I’m being reminded this week of all the foibles of being a dad–is telling them the truth, because I always want to tell my kids the truth. And sometimes when you try to couch the truth in something less than the truth, it doesn’t come out as the truth.

And I think sometimes we worry that our kids aren’t as resilient as they are and that they can handle it, and it’s–that

it’s better that they ultimately understand, you know, the truth of something. I think there’s a way to finesse that without scaring them or hurting them, but–or hurting them as much.

But I guess what I like about that scene is that he ultimately has to just tell his daughter the truth. And it’s really painful, but ultimately more painful for him than it is for her.”

Despicable

In this new adventure, Gru discovers he has a twin brother. Carell voices both Gru and his brother Dru. His voice transition is flawless. Dru’s personality is distinct from his brother, unlike Gru he was raised by his father.

Kristn Wigg’s character changes from super spy to a caring involved mother. We love her!

Question:

“You kind of answered my question, but do you also get any kind of input as to stories? Since it’s like your second and your third movie, do–you know, when they approach you guys to do another one of these, do they kind of come in, “What do you think for your characters,” and things like that?’

Ms. Kristen Wiig:

“I mean, no, but only because they do such a great job writing the scripts and they’ve got such amazing writers and animators. It’s–we’re happy to just sort of like do a trust fall into these films because we’re in such good hands.

We don’t–I mean, they’re collaborative in the sense of, like, lines sometimes. We can play and do different versions, or they’ll ask if we have an idea for something. But for the most part, you know, we’re just sort of doing what’s there.”

Kristen’s character is upbeat and loving. She’s absolutely adorable…

This new adventure is full of unexpected twists and turns… My son’s favorite part of the film was when Gru and his twin brother embarked on a journey as villains. We laughed out loud while watching this movie. This film is great for the entire family.

Despicable-Pharrell

The soundtrack in the film is sensational… In my interview with Pharrell, I was curious to know about the creative process and how this remarkable man comes up with his material.

Question:

“Hi, my name is Angela Camacho. I’m with Queen Bee Latina. Now, I noticed on the soundtrack–by the way, I want to thank you for such an upbeat–as a mom, I really appreciate music like that. My son’s 10, and we have played the CD over and over in the car.”

Mr. Pharrell Williams:

“Wow.”

Question:

“But in terms of the creative process, now is–I noticed you write a lot of the songs, particularly Fun, Fun, Fun. We love that. I mean, it’s a great song. What–can you tell me about the creative process? Is this you on your own? Do you collaborate? What’s the creative process like for you when you write your music?”

Mr. Pharrell Williams:

“For me–yes, I did it on my own. But I think more than anything else, it’s just about, like, sort of zoning out and making sure that, like, anything that I’m contributing is going to add to the vision of the director, ’cause when you’re working on an animation film they need no distractions.

Like, if the color is off and you’re watching it and you start asking questions, then it doesn’t work. So, everything has to be acutely executed and has to go along with the intention of what the director wants, because there’s like an emotional flow. And so, when you’re meant to feel down, you’re meant to feel down. When you’re meant to feel up, you’re meant to feel up. And no matter how good you think a song is, if it is a disruption from what the director wants, they’re not going to use it.

And so, for me, I was given a lot of guidelines and parameters and expectations of what they may want. And that–that’s been really fun for me. I wouldn’t have written any of these songs if it weren’t for these films and what the moments in the films required. So, it’s really cool.

It’s like–I’m more like a Mr. Magoo. I’m just following–just walking forward, and the only thing I have in–at that very moment is my instinct. You know, it’s kind of like a constant flow of curveballs. But after a while, you start to enjoy your

ability to still hit the ball, not knowing it’s coming at you. So, that’s what it’s like.”

Pharrell is a true artist, and gave me the chills when he spoke about his music.

Don’t miss out on the fun. Go see this film with your kiddos!

Say “Aloha” to the Minions. Despicable Me 3 hits theaters June 30th!

The Beguiled Movie Hits Theaters June 23rd

Written By: Clarissa Camacho

Last week we hit the red carpet for “The Beguiled” movie  premiere in Los Angeles, California. The hashtag of the night was #VengefulBitches. It was no surprise because this new juicy thriller is disturbing, provocative, and suspenseful…

Directed by Sofia Coppola, this drama takes place in Virginia during the Civil War.  A young girl ventures out into the woods to collect mushrooms and finds a wounded Union soldier under a tree.  At first, the film feels much like a historical drama, then this hair-raising story takes unexpected twists and turns.

This new thriller hits select theaters June 23rd.

Thank you Focus Features for inviting us to The Beguiled Movie Premiere. All opinions are my own.

About the Film

The Beguiled is an atmospheric thriller from acclaimed writer/director Sofia Coppola. The story unfolds during the Civil War, at a Southern girls’ boarding school. Its sheltered young women take in an injured enemy soldier. As they provide refuge and tend to his wounds, the house is taken over with sexual tension and dangerous rivalries, and taboos are broken in an unexpected turn of events.

Tarantino-Beguiled

Quentin Tarantino and other Hollywood celebs showed up to the premiere to support Coppola’s new film.  “The Beguiled” is a recreation of the 1971 film, originally starring Clint Eastwood.

Beguiled Movie

Producer Youree Henley said, “It’s a really fun movie to watch especially with an audience. When people feel like they are given permission collectively to laugh, or sigh, or to feel that experience. It’s very quiet sometimes and then it gets very broad in the best sense.”

We laughed, cringed, and gasped while watching the film. The story took us on an emotional voyage, much like Henley described in our interview.

Kidman-Beguiled

Miss Martha (Nicole Kidman), is elegant and poised. She reluctantly helps the wounded solider. Kidman’s beauty and demeanor transforms as her attraction grows for McBurney.

Corporal McBurney’s (Colin Farrell) character is rugged, charming, and magnetic much like Eastwood in the original film. The attractive soldier has an thick Irish brogue. He distracts the girls from their daily routine, which causes disruption in the school.

Dunst-Beguiled

Edwina (Kirsten Dunst) portrays a quiet composed teacher who also falls hard for the Union Soldier. She is determined to be by his side.

Fanning-Beguiled

Alicia (Elle Fanning) is a young wild seductress. Things definitely heat up with Elle and McBurney, and the love triangle becomes chaotic and extremely complicated.

Emma Howard (Emily) looked gorgeous in red at the premiere. This is her first feature film.

Beguiled-Cast

As the story unfolds, these young girls reveal a dark vindictive side. Addison Riecke is sweet “Marie” in the film.

Beguiled-Party

The six pound pie baked by Chef Casey Thompson was the perfect dessert for “The Beguiled” themed dinner party.

Go see “The Beguiled” in theaters June 23rd!

This movie is Rated R

Run time: 93 minutes

Wonder Woman Movie: Exclusive Interview With Actress Gal Gadot and Director Patty Jenkins

I grew up in the 70’s watching actress Lynda Carter in the Wonder Woman hit series on ABC. She was an icon for my generation, and the epitome of intelligence, strength, and beauty. After watching an episode, I often would spin in my living room to transform into Wonder Woman and would reenact one of her battle scenes. I felt invincible and strong. There is a new heroine in town, and she will not disappoint fans…

On June 2nd, the new Wonder Woman Movie will hit theaters with a bang!

Actress Gal Gadot had large shoes to fill when taking on this leading female role. I admit I was a little skeptical before screening this film, but Gadot’s performance blew me away…

My daughter and I were thrilled to get an exclusive interview with Gal Gadot and Director Patty Jenkins earlier this month.

This is a sponsored post. Thank you Warner Bros for inviting my daughter and I to screen Wonder Woman and interview Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins . All opinions are my own.

Wonder Woman Interview

This film is long overdue, and I am thrilled that there is a new badass female hero for a new generation!

About The Movie

Power of a goddess. Heart of a hero. Gal Gadot is #WonderWoman

From Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Entertainment comes the epic action adventure starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen and Robin Wright, directed by Patty Jenkins.

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American Pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers… and her true destiny.

Wonder Woman Movie

My daughter applauded and cried tears of joy after screening this film. She sat front and center as she waited to meet Gal Gadot.

Gal Gadot Wonder Woman

Question: So, what do you feel is the most important part of being Wonder Woman?

Ms. Gal Gadot: “Well, I think that it’s so important that we show a strong female figure and that we show her story. I think that me growing up, I could go and watch Superman or Batman, but I never had a strong female figure that really inspires me to look up to. And I think that this movie is so important for all of you young girls and also for boys, as well. I’ve seen many boys dressed as Wonder Woman.

And I think that what’s so beautiful about this character is that she’s very universal. Everyone can find something that he likes for himself about the character. And she stands for beautiful things, for love and for acceptance and compassion and truth, and these values are very important, especially nowadays.

And I think that, if we expose our kids to more of a goodness, then they will become greater. We’ll have a better society.”

Patty Jenkins Director

Question: I was wondering, so I love Robin Wright, and I think you guys were just so amazing together. And the scenes on the island were incredible. How did you do that, and how did everyone train for that? It was unbelievable?

Ms. Patty Jenkins: “Well, I don’t even know where to begin because it was actually so complicated. To try to build all of the things you need to make this island in the history of Wonder Woman which is always an idealized place that happens to be populated by all of these women but is very real.

And so, it was a visual struggle to find all of the elements to put together to say that almost feels real. But, then to find the greatest women you could. What was cool about it was I’ve grown up knowing so many incredible women and so many incredible people. So, when you try to represent that in an island made up of only women, you end up pulling together so many different interesting people. Some are great at horse riding. Some was the greatest boxer in the world. Someone else is an incredible artisan.

And you end up with such a broad variety of people, and then you want to establish a world where they’re all one.

And so, we found these incredible women. They turned out to be such a broad variety of people, but, we needed the one who knew how to ride a horse to also know how to fight and the one who knew how to fight to know how to ride a horse. And so, we had to do this boot camp for months where each of them worked together every day to learn those other things.

And it turned into this incredibly inspiring cool thing because they all became really tight and really great friends, and how they approach things is slightly different than they might have if they were alone or not together. So, it was really awesome. It was great, and Robin was amazing.”

Ms. Gal Gadot: “It was.”Wonder Woman Costume

Question: So, what does it mean for both of you guys to be leading this representation for young girls? I grew up not really seeing anybody on screen to be like that’s who I want to be, that’s who I look up to. And now, my daughter has you.

Ms. Gal Gadot: “It’s amazing, it’s amazing, and I’m so touched by it. It’s funny because it’s my first time seeing girls that actually saw the movie.

And it’s just so moving for me. And your reaction means the world because this is why we make these movies. This is why it’s worth, so I’m very, very happy, and I’m so glad that you all love the movie.”

Ms. Patty Jenkins: “Yes. And for me, when I was a kid, I saw Superman, and it made me feel like I could be a hero one day, and it’s lasted with me ever since and is one of the reasons I’m here today. But, it wasn’t until I saw the show of Wonder Woman on TV, which happened around the same time, when I was Wonder Woman on the playground, I was everything I ever wanted to be.

So, sometimes, we”ve had these moments where we’re like, oh, my God, the idea that we could be a part of kids’ lives in that way is so beautiful and overwhelming, and we hope to give what we were given by other people.”

Ms. Gal Gadot: “Exactly.”
