LIVE Dueling Piano Bar: Keys On Main At The Triangle In Costa Mesa

Summer is here, and now and then I need a break from the kids! Last week I headed to Keys On Main in Costa Mesa

Keys on Main has excellent live piano music, great ambiance, and delicious drinks. I can’t wait to go again for a girls night!

Old Friends, Good Beer, And Fun Times At The Summer Suds Brewfest In Fountain Valley

 Summer-Suds-Brewfest

Summer is officially here, and I started out the season at the Summer Sudfest in Fountain Valley!

This was their first event in OC, and I truly hope it’s not their last. Thirty-five breweries, live performances, and food trucks were all lined up for event goers to enjoy.

Beer lovers unite!  The three hour unlimited brew tastings were endless, and it was difficult to choose which beer to try first.

Here is a photo recap of the event.

Hosted: Thank you Summer Suds Brewfest for inviting me to your event. All opinions are my own.

Pageant Of The Masters 2018: Under The Sun July 7th- September 1st

Pageant-Masters-Laguna

I was ten years old when I attended my very first Pageant of the Masters show in Laguna Beach. I can still remember my heart fluttering as the intricate paintings with the use of real human beings were showcased in front of me. I was blown away, and I couldn’t believe how little girls like me were part of something so breathtaking.

Last week, I got a special behind the scenes tour of this year’s LIVE art show. After getting a glimpse, I was overwhelmed with the nostalgia. Once again I could hear the delightful music, feel my hair stand on end, and my heart palpitate.

The Festival of Arts Fine Art Show will celebrate its 86th year July 5 through September 1, 2018 in Laguna Beach, California.

If you have never experienced this sensational show, you MUST. It’s was a unique concept created by Lolita Perine, and was once criticized heavily by speculators. After the first “living art” expose, it drew attention almost instantaneously. In 1934 Roy Ropp took over the production and renamed it “Pageant of the Masters.” He is known as the father of the production, and died in 1974.

Pageant-Masters-Laguna

The Festival has been rated one of the top festivals in the nation and each year hosts 140 of Orange County’s most talented artists. Recent accolades include Orange County Register’s Best Place to Buy Original Art, Art Fair Calendar’s Top Five Art Fairs in the West and Top 5 Art Festival in the nation voted by USA Today readers. Live music, hands-on art activities, exhibitions of local student artwork and a wide variety of special events round out one of Southern California’s favorite outdoor summer festivals. The Festival of Arts is sponsored in part by Southern California Acura Dealers, Fidelity Investments, KOST Radio 103.5, Pavilions and the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel.

This year’s show is going to be sensational!

Thank you Pageant of the Masters for inviting me to get a sneak peak of Under the Sun. All opinions are my own.

2018 Theme

Under the Sun

In the early years of the 20th century, a new generation of impressionists and plein air painters set up their easels outdoors and reveled in the natural beauty to be found as far as the eye could see. In the 2018 Pageant of the Masters, “Under the Sun,” theatrical magic, live music and light-hearted storytelling will honor Laguna’s own and other artistic pioneers from around the world who left their studios in search of new inspiration.

There’ll also be no shortage of fun and surprises as the Pageant acknowledges two local milestones: the 85th anniversary of “living pictures” at the Festival of Arts and the 100th anniversary of Laguna Art Museum.

Pageant-Masters-Laguna

The incredible show is a huge collaboration of artists, actors, volunteers and set designers. Pageant-Masters-Laguna

It’s mind blowing to see how this art show comes ALIVE!

Artist Sharon Jackman showcased her gorgeous vases at the sneak peek.

In addition to the variety of artwork, the Festival of Arts offers a wide range of daily activities that the whole family can enjoy. The calendar includes nightly live music, guided art tours, art workshops and weekly series including Concerts on the Green (sponsored by Cambria Estates Vineyard and Winery) and Art, Jazz, Wine, and Chocolate (sponsored by Charles Schwab). Several special one-day events will return this year, including the very popular Festival Runway Fashion Show and Family Art Day (sponsored by San Diego County Credit Union).

Knott’s Berry Farm’s Hangtime Rollercoaster Is Now Open

Knotts-hangtime

Do you enjoy a good adrenalin rush and extreme rollercoasters?

If so, you need to head to Knott’s Berry Farm to experience their newest ride, HangTime!

In celebration of the new ride, last week I headed Knott’s to celebrate the new rollercoaster’s debut.  It was a HangTime preview night and beach themed shindig! This new ride is the first and only dive coaster in Cali.  HangTime towers 150 feet over the Boardwalk area showcasing a beyond vertical drop that is the steepest in California, gravity-defying inversions, and mid-air suspensions. GULP… Yes it’s pretty insane. This new ride is NOW open to park guests!

I looked up at the ride and thought, am I actually going to do this? Then I figured, what the heck… YOLO! ( you only live once)

Knotts-hangtime-ride

For those of you that enjoy a thrill ride, your are definitely in for a treat!

About HangTime

HangTime will send riders up a vertical lift hill into a 15-story 96-degree drop-the steepest drop in California. The coaster’s train will come to a halt once the highest peak is reached, and will leave riders suspended at the crest for several seconds staring downward at a 60-degree angle, giving the illusion of a disappearing track. Then the train will suddenly descend in a beyond-vertical drop, through 2,189 feet of steel track and five gravity-defying inversion. HangTime will be only the second rollercoaster in the Western Hemisphere to feature a negative-g stall loop, which gives riders the sensation of floating.

Knotts-hangtime

The new HangTime ride looks spectacular at night!

Knotts-hangtime-party

The party was HangTime beach themed with live band playing Beach Boy’s tunes, and beach balls being tossed around the park … Knott’s Berry Farm definitely knows how to throw a party!

Knotts-hangtime-food

These deviled eggs were decorated with colorful edible flowers. They were almost too pretty to eat!

Bacon Bacon and More Bacon at Slater’s 50/50 In Anaheim Hills

Featured Burger: BISON & BACON American-raised bison with thick-cut bacon, swiss cheese, jalapeño-bacon jam, lettuce, tomato and sage aioli on a honey wheat bun. (my personal fave)

It’s National Burger Month and it’s time to celebrate Yippee!

If you are a bacon fan, you need to check out Slater’s 50/50 in Anaheim Hills.

My family absolutely LOVES “le bacon,” and we were excited to check this legendary burger joint out.  As we walked in the restaurant, we could hear and smell the sizzling bacon… It was heaven on earth!

Mike the manager, kindly greeted us and showed us to our table. He was very friendly and attentive with both the customers and his staff.  Our knowledgeable waitress walked us through the menu options. The selection was HUGE, and there were so many delicious appetizers and entrées to choose from. There was BACON in almost everything on their menu! (a pinch me moment)

Hosted: Thank you Slater’s 50/50 for inviting my family to eat at your restaurant. All opinions are my own.

slaters-anaheim-hills-vampire-dip

We started out with the Slater’s Vampire Dip… OMG sooo addicting!

This loaded appetizer had roasted garlic and artichoke hearts blended with creamy melted cheese, served in a sourdough bread bowl with crispy pita and veggies for dipping.

Bacon Mac and Cheese Balls- Yes please! These House-made bacon mac and cheese balls are breaded with panko and served with Tapatio ranch for dipping. This appetizer had just the right crisp with a rich moist inside… NOMNOM

Check out this over the top amped up Ultimate S’more Shake!

Whoa! This insane shake was prepared by “Mike the Man” himself. He took much pride in his creation, and explained all that was involved in making this masterpiece.

This toasted marshmallow shake has a marshmallow fluff rim & crumbled graham cracker crust is topped with fresh whipped cream, toasted marshmallows, a chocolate syrup drizzle and a campfire roasted s’more . (Add Bailey’s Irish Cream)

The Lone Star Smoke was my son’s burger choice on the menu. He ordered the animal fries, to go with his delicious burger. (I kept stealing them lol)

It has Black Canyon Angus beef topped with smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, crispy onion rings, pickles, smoky barbecue sauce and garlic aioli on a brioche bun.

The Original 50/50 is the most popular among bacon fans. It has beef and bacon blend, pepper jack cheese, avocado, sunny-side up egg and chipotle mayo on a brioche bun.

Cheers! It was so nice to sit, relax, and enjoy a craft beer. There are 25 local beers to select from on tap. The ambiance is casual and inviting.  Slater’s 50/50 is a great spot for date night, or even just to sit watch the game.

Oooh… Don’t forget to ask about their new delicious bloody Mary Bar!

Hickory-Smoked Bacon Bloody Mary

They are made with house-made bacon vodka and Cutwater Bloody Mary mix, finished with thick-cut bacon and Tajin!

Experience The New MEDIEVAL TIMES Show In Buena Park

Medieval-Times-queen

When I was a young girl I dreamt of distant lands, brave nights, and majestic castles. I was in grade school when I experienced the magic come to life for the first time at Medieval Times. It was a unique entertainment experience, that is still embedded in my memory book. I am thrilled that for a second time I will see the show, but this time with my family. Per our son prince Andrew’s request, we will be celebrating his birthday at this sensational dinner show this week!

All Hail the Queen! Her sovereign Majesty, Doña Maria Isabella is introduced in the new show!

Medieval Times is ushering in a new royal ruler as the lead role in their wildly popular SoCal production at the Buena Park castle. For the first time in the company’s 34-year tradition of having a king as the sole ruler of the land, a female character made history in the company’s newest show that debuted on March 16th, in the heart of Orange County.

Thank you Medieval Times for inviting us to see your new show! All opinions are my own.

About The Show

Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament is a live two-hour show with a delicious four-course feast served medieval-style, or without silverware.  Guests cheer for six brave Knights as they compete in games of skill, authentic jousting matches and sword fights in an attempt to win the tournament.  Beautiful, rare, Pure Spanish Horses (P.R.E.) are featured throughout the show in breathtaking acts of dressage.  As the dynamic performance unfolds, the energy rises inside the 1,000 seat Grand Ceremonial Arena. The heroic knights, spirited horses and the flight of the falcon leave guests cheering for more.

In addition to the debut of the queen character and storyline, the new production features:

• More than 700 new costumes for all nine castles’ performers including horses, all of which are custom-designed and hand-made at a dedicated costume shop near the Dallas Design District.

• Two hundred new suits of armor, shields and helmets, all custom-designed and handmade at a dedicated armory in Florida.

• More than 350 team members and 225 horses who have rehearsed new lines and fight scenes for three months while still presenting the current show. o This include the queens undergoing an intense two months of training to become experts at riding the impressive Andalusian stallion for the new show.

• New music composed by Dr. Daniel May, the composer and jazz pianist who scored “Everest” and other films, and has worked with notables such as Sting and The Moody Blues. He directed and recorded Medieval Times’ new show composition in Kiev with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. This includes directing the choir in Ukraine with lyrics written by notable poet and choir member Solomia Gorokhivska.

• A live-action film score precisely synchronized with every element of the show, from lights to fights; jousts to jabs; the Queen’s entry to curtain closings; and more.

• A sound and light production featuring 120 hours of programming with 300 new music cues and 500 new lighting cues. Buena Park is one of several castles installing and programming a new LED lighting system that offers 256 colors versus the old 14-color system. The system is powered by 10 miles of cable and an estimated $1 million upgrade.

We seriously can’t wait!

Splitsville Luxury Lanes Now Open At Downtown Disney in Anaheim

Splitsville-Anaheim-Downtown-Disney

I like to think I’m a great bowler; however, my family might say otherwise. I decided to show off my skills and challenge them to a game at the new Splitsville in Anaheim. This luxurious bowling alley recently opened at Downtown Disney, and my family was elated to check it out.

Thank you Splitsville for hosting Queen Bee Latina for a night of bowling and dining. All opinions are my own…

Take a tour and check out this video!

Splitsville-Anaheim-Downtown-DisneyWe checked in with the hostess and we were immediately directed to the outdoor patio. It was so nice and relaxing to sit by the outdoor fire place and sip on a chilled Moscow Mule. The live band was playing, and my kiddos were excited to see their friends arrive.

Splitsville-Anaheim-Downtown-Disney

Splitsville’s decor is chic and mid-century modern. The view from the second floor overlooks Downtown Disney. The vibe is very cool and upscale.

Splitsville-Anaheim-Downtown-Disney

There’s something for everyone whether you pick up a ball or not!

Splitsville offers visitors a one-of-a-kind, multi-faceted entertainment experience. The new location offers more than 40,000 square feet of entertainment space with two levels, 20 lanes, and semi-private lounges that allows guests to bowl and enjoy craft cocktails in an atmosphere that is distinctly Disney.

With drink in hand, we headed to the bowling alleys. Ok, so maybe I’m not the best bowler, but I sure enjoyed this tasty cocktail…

Laughs, big smiles, silliness, and more belly laughs. The kids had an incredible time with their friends on the lanes too!

Splitsville-Anaheim-Downtown-Disney

Above: POKE BOWL- Choice of salmon, ahi tuna or tofu with pickled radish and avocado over bamboo rice blend. Topped with spicy mayo, sesame seeds and scallions. (my personal favorite)

Our friendly knowledgeable waitress walked us through the menu. The selection included poke bowls, sushi, nachos, poke, sliders and much more. Everything was served quickly and was fresh and delish!

The kid’s menu offers chicken tenders, pizza, hot dogs, burgers, and other yummy options. (my kids were addicted to the french fries)

Splitsville-Anaheim-Downtown-Disney

Above: BANANA STREUSEL PIZZA-House made pizza crust topped with banana, crunchy streusel, caramel sauce, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. OMG melts in your mouth and sooo good….

The experience was unique and my family had a blast! Splitsville is ideal for birthday parties, company parties, date night, and other large gatherings. From family fun to date nights, Splitsville is an awesome destination for all ages. We can’t wait to return!

OCWineFest Comes To Orange County March 10 & 11th

Do you enjoy wine?

If so, you don’t miss OCWineFest, with festivities March 10 and 11th on the historical grounds of A Stones Throw Winery in San Juan Capistrano!

When I lived in the Central Coast, one of my favorite things to do was wine taste at the local wineries… I’m thrilled that I don’t have to travel far to try some delicious vinos!

Guests at OCWineFest will learn about and sip award-winning wines from around the globe – including from producers hailing from Israel, Croatia (hello, aged at the bottom of the Adriatic Sea!), Greece, France, as well as those you might be surprised to learn were grown and made right in Orange County and Los Angeles.

Thank you OCWineFest for inviting me to your event. All opinions are my own.
