Sweet Symphony: Unwrapping the Enchantment of Wonka

Have you ever tasted a movie? Because “Wonka” is a delectable cinematic treat that immerses you in a world of whimsy, magic, and pure imagination. Directed by Paul King, the creative genius behind the beloved “Paddington” films, and produced by the visionary David Heyman, this film is a delectable concoction that brings to life the origin story of the enigmatic Willy Wonka. We got a sneak peek earlier this month in L.A., and it was truly a sweet treat!

At its core, “Wonka” is an enchanting narrative that weaves the tale of a young dreamer, played brilliantly by Timothée Chalamet (love him), whose journey to becoming the world’s greatest inventor and chocolate-maker is as sweet as the treats he creates.

Chalamet brings a youthful vigor and earnestness to the character, making Willy Wonka’s evolution from a wide-eyed dreamer to a whimsical maestro utterly captivating.

I have attached some activity sheets below to enjoy with your family!

But what truly elevates this cinematic confection is its ensemble cast. Keegan-Michael Key, Sally Hawkins, Hugh Grant, and a host of other incredibly talented actors breathe life into a vibrant tapestry of characters, each adding their own sprinkle of charm and charisma to this delectable story. The chemistry among the cast is palpable, adding layers of depth and humor to the narrative.

Well done!

The visual feast offered by “Wonka” is unparalleled. The cinematography creates a mesmerizing world that feels both nostalgic and fresh. Nathan Crowley’s production design, a visual spectacle in itself, transports you into a candy-coated wonderland that sparkles with creativity. And let’s not forget Lindy Hemming’s costumes, which are a delightful fusion of whimsy and elegance, perfectly capturing the essence of each character.

In essence, “Wonka” is a cinematic treat that not only pays tribute to the timeless charm of Roald Dahl’s creation but also carves its own place in the pantheon of magical storytelling.

It’s a film that wraps you in nostalgia, sprinkles you with laughter, and leaves you craving for more. So, grab your golden ticket and step into this enchanting world—because Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory has never been more inviting.

We absolutely loved this endearing adaptation. Don’t miss it this holiday season!

UglyDolls Is Now Available on Blu-ray and DVD

Last night in celebration of the UglyDolls Movie release on Blu-ray and DVD, we enjoyed a special movie night with our familia and our new adopted stuffed friends. Tori and Clarissa were thrilled to introduce this story to their little brother for the first time.

When mis niñas (my little girls) were little, they would snuggle up with their silly UglyDolls, and read the Ugly Guide comic books until lights off. They simply loved the adventures and humor of these adorable dolls.

You can now pick up the UglyDolls Movie on DVD & Blu-ray, and celebrate the weirdness with us at home!

Thank you Universal Pictures Home Entertainment for sponsoring this post. All opinion are my own.

”This summer, you’re invited to a magical place where weird is celebrated. Strange is special. And beauty is more than meets the eye.” ~Narrator, UglyDolls ♥️

About The Film

Unconventionality rules in UGLYDOLLS,  STXfilms’ new animated musical adventure starring the acting and singing voices of Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, Janelle Monáe, Blake Shelton and Pitbull.   The film is inspired by the unique and beloved global plush toy phenomenon launched in 2001.

In the adorably different town of Uglyville, weird is celebrated, strange is special and beauty is embraced as more than simply meets the eye. Here, the free-spirited Moxy and her UglyDoll friends live every day in a whirlwind of bliss, letting their freak flags fly in a celebration of life and its endless possibilities.  The endearingly unique residents of Uglyville  occasionally look to the sky above the town, where a new UglyDoll will appear and be embraced by the community.

Moxy (Kelly Clarkson) loves her square-peg life in this round-hole town, but her curiosity about all things leads her to wonder if there’s something – anything – on the other side of the mountain which nestles Uglyville.  Moxy gathers a group of her closest friends and sets off to find what’s on the other side.  They discover another world – Perfection – a town where more conventional dolls are trained in protocols before they graduate and are sent to the “real” world to find the love of a child.

This film has such a great message for kids!

How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World-Interview with America Ferrera and Jay Baruchel

Written by Correspondent Clarissa Camacho

How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World hits theaters February 22, 2019!

Last week, I got a behind a scenes glimpse of the the new upcoming film and I met with the voice actors America Ferrera and Jay Baruchel at DreamWorks in Glendale California.

Check out the excerpts from my interview below!

Sponsored: This post is in partnership with Universal Pictures

I screened this adorable new film the night before, and then headed to DreamWorks the following day. There we celebrated the new film with themed activities, photo and video ops, and more. It was memorable and so much fun!

Farewell How to Train Your Dragon…. It hurts to see Toothless and Hiccup go! The original movie that debuted on March 26, 2010 taught me about honor, the importance of conservation, and to be fearless. And now nine years later, the new film continues to inspire, teach, and also has a great message. This movie touched my heart in many ways, and I can’t wait to see it again with my little brother!

There were many hilarious parts in the film. I found myself laughing uncontrollably out loud.

Yes… That’s me flying high and exploring “The Hidden World”

ABOUT

From DreamWorks Animation comes a surprising tale about growing up, finding the courage to face the unknown…and how nothing can ever train you to let go. What began as an unlikely friendship between an adolescent Viking and a fearsome Night Fury dragon has become an epic adventure spanning their lives. Welcome to the most astonishing chapter of one of the most beloved animated franchises in film history: How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.

Now chief and ruler of Berk alongside Astrid, Hiccup has created a gloriously chaotic dragon utopia. When the sudden appearance of female Light Fury coincides with the darkest threat their village has ever faced, Hiccup and Toothless must leave the only home they’ve known and journey to a hidden world thought only to exist in myth. As their true destines are revealed, dragon and rider will fight together—to the very ends of the Earth—to protect everything they’ve grown to treasure.

Clarissa: “Did you guys intentionally give your characters the attributes of feminist and environmental activist because there’s a lot of dialog that is just really empowering.”

Jay Baruchel: “It’s more Dean I would think.  It stems from our writer, director, who is a very hopeful, forward-thinking man with a big, wide-open heart and believes in the best in people in the world.  Any of those messages that you felt, we paid homage to, that’s all from him.  That’s all his belief system, which is ours as well.”

America Ferrera: “Yeah.  And I will say like over the years, Dean and I have had conversations about how to evolve Astrid and how to keep her active in her own journey and feeling empowered and she has a full character that isn’t just about sort of being the girl to the guy. So, we’ve had a lot of conversations about that, and he has done her more than justice in really allowing her to develop into a full character that really has a role to play in the larger journey and what ends up happening with the series.”

I felt the characters were developed with the intention to empower. I could see traditional values develop into a new wave of progression; thanks to our beloved actors and directors and producers.

How cute are these dragons?

This film is action packed with dragons, Vikings, strong female characters and teaches about environmental conservation. I love this!

This film is fun fulled for the entire family. Don’t miss it in theaters February 22nd!
